An exciting new leak today provides an informative report on OnePlus' plans and overall strategy. The company's new market segmentation works as follows: The numbered series is the flagship line, the Rbranded models are focused on the local market, the Nord and Nord CE units are mid-range units, and the Nord N phones are focused on entry. level.

Speaking of the R model, the OnePlus 9RT was just launched in India as the successor to the 9R, but obviously the 10R will also be available later this year. Not only that, but it appears that the global market already has the vanilla OnePlus 10, along with the 10 Pro released for the Chinese. Instead, the OnePlus 10R will feature MediaTek Dimension 9000.
After years of only using Qualcomm chipsets, OnePlus initially followed MediaTek's path with Nord 2 and now the Taiwanese chipmaker has a decent flagship SoC, so even though the 10R is only available in select regions, it is poised to include it in its flagship series.
According to these rumors, the reason OnePlus isn't using the Dimensity 9000 on the 10 or 10 Pro is the North American preference for mmWave 5G and the lack of MediaTek chip support for it. The OnePlus 10R is headed for China and India with a 120Hz AMOLED display and "minimum" 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The OnePlus 10R is expected to hit the market at the end of Q2 (June). The company wants to give 9RT a break, so it's delayed. The phone was originally scheduled to launch in India in October, but was delayed to this month due to issues with OxygenOS 12.
