The Vivo X70 Pro features a 6.56-inch AMOLED panel, MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, and a unique gimbal camera. Can he position himself in the premium segment of the middle class? Let's take a look at this review.
Vivo has made many camera innovations over the year and launched the X70 series with more luxurious looks and features. Highlights of the Vivo X70 Pro are its 6.56-inch AMOLED panel, MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset and unique gimbal camera. Can he position himself in the premium segment of the middle class? Let's take a look at this review. But as soon as you touch the back of the X70 pro, you'll immediately notice the difference. It actually gets some kind of shiny matte finish that is very smooth. Also, you can now feel the Vivo brand on the back. I got the Aurora Dawn version for review.
The also features a slightly more overhanging camera cutout than its predecessor and includes a more powerful lens. Also on top of the camera module is the ZEISS T* logo, which indicates a special lens coating that helps eliminate flare, ghosting and stray light.
Finally, the Vivo has an IR blaster on top of the phone, which is useful if you don't have a remote nearby or you're lazy.

Display:

The Vivo X70 Pro features a 6.56" Full HD+ E5 curved AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 19.8:9 aspect ratio. The panel is HDR10+ certified and features an all-new AG Fluorite coating that protects the device from fingerprint smudges. Being a AMOLED panel, the display is bright enough to be read in direct sunlight. The colors are rich, vivid and accurate. We've seen web series, movies and a lot of content on the X70 pro and they trusted us. It was pleasing to the eye. It's also Widevine L1 certified, so you won't have any problems streaming Full HD content on a variety of OTT platforms. The panel also features a hole-punch-style front-facing camera, beneath which is a fast-responsive optical fingerprint reader.

Camera:

Well, this is the USP for smartphones. There is a custom Sony IMX766V 50MP main sensor that supports gimbal stabilization. The custom sensor transmits about 4.6% more light than the already available IMX766 sensor. Along the way, there is a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and an 8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Both telephoto lenses receive OIS. There is also a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that acts as a macro lens. The main and telescope lenses are capable of simulating the bokeh of well-known ZEISS lens styles such as Biotar, Sonnar, Planar and Distagon. When we arrived at the show, the daytime footage was full of detail and clarity. The X70 Pro delivers true-to-life colors, and photos look amazing in post-processing. You can also post your own images without thinking about editing. The real performance of the camera can be seen at sunset.
Yes! you read it correctly. You can easily shoot bright as well as dark scenes of varying contrasts, and the results are surprisingly good. Switching to night mode allows you to take great photos even with little or no lighting. It provides well-defined shadows with impressive dynamic range, contrast, and rich detail when shooting outdoors at night.
There is a special Supermoon mode that best captures the moon. 60x hybrid zoom and smartphone AI capture all the glory of the moon.
The selfie taken with the 32MP camera was rich in detail and offered a wide dynamic range, but lacked sharpness in low-light areas. Daytime selfies could cope with sharpness, but in low light conditions, the skin tone became softer. Portrait mode defines the edges well and separates the subject from the background well. You can take portraits with any lens except the ultra wide angle. The camera allows up to 5x optical zoom in portrait mode, but I think 2x works best for portraits. Speaking of video capabilities, the Vivo X70 Pro can shoot 4K video at 60fps. 4k video offers great dynamic range and rich detail. The camera offers good stabilization, but Ultra Steady mode is limited to 1080p. Surprisingly, you can now manually adjust the aperture in video for both the front and rear cameras. Move the switch to the lowest aperture and you'll get a vertical video and the results are really good.

Performance:

The Vivo X70 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset clocked at 3GHz, thanks to a Cortex A78 main core and three Cortex A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz. The test unit comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Like other Vivo phones, it also has an extended RAM feature that uses internal memory to expand the RAM to 4GB.
This processor is really powerful for handling everyday tasks, but it's not on par with the competition. In benchmarks, the OnePlus 9 lags far behind the X70 Pro. I've played Garena Freefire, Call of Duty, Battlegrounds Mobile India and many more, but it didn't disappoint right away. We also tried to play the game on the highest possible settings and the game ran very smoothly.
Vivo X70 Pro runs FunTouchOS12 based on Android 11. Interestingly, Android 12 is also coming soon in November. If you like pure Android, you'll love FunTouchOS more. But for now, it's optimized for a lot of things. There is some malware, but it can be easily removed by setting up your device. All in all, you'll get a decent processor and you'll never compromise on speed and performance. Speaking of the
battery, it offers a 4450mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging via the bundled charger. Battery life is greatly optimized thanks to the E5 panel. If you are a moderate user this can easily last all day. I spent an hour on calls, maps, OTT browsing, mail, and games, but in the end I was able to save 23% at the bank. It takes about 1 hour to fully charge the battery using the supplied charger. If you're in a hurry, you can charge your battery up to 60% in just 30 minutes. The X70 pro supports reverse wired charging, so you can charge other devices as well.

Verdict:

The Vivo X70 pro is one of the most powerful smartphones with great camera features. Its curved AMOLED panel, great design, and one of the best hardware cameras make it a strong contender in the mid-range segment. Where it's lagging behind the competition is average performance due to SoC dimensions, lack of wireless charging support, and lack of stereo speakers. If you're looking for excellent camera performance, no one can't deny the X70 Pro. If you want to look elsewhere, the OnePlus 9 and Asus ROG Phone 4 are worth mentioning in this segment.
