Are you using 5G on your phone?

The first phones with 5G appeared on the market in early 2019, but three years later, we are still in the transition phase. However, 4G phones are still being introduced and a significant number of countries do not have active 5G networks.

A simple question for this week. Are you using 5G on your phone? There are several reasons why we haven't switched from "not available in my country" to "not required" yet.

Often the answer depends on the carrier. Newly added 5G coverage to the network is still uneven. You may also need a new 5G plan but don't want to renew it yet. And you definitely need a 5G-capable phone that you may not have.

Almost all phones today support LTE, luckily with some carriers shutting down their old networks. But even this is not guaranteed. AT&T in the US, for example, is sending replacement calls to people still using 2G/3G in preparation for the end of 3G service (scheduled next month after 2G ends). The day when everyone will have a 5G mobile phone is still a long way off.

Do you use 5G on your phone? If not, why not? tell us in comments.
